Sploder Game Types

Sploder has 5 different types of games you can play and learn to create your own games.

I started learning how to use the Physics Puzzle first by copying a tutorial on YouTube by Jeff from Sploder.com. I wanted to learn how to do a physics game so I copied his tutorial to see if I could do it and learn from it. Thanks Jeff. I found the physics games to be similar to Angry Birds you are projecting an object, aiming, and applying force. I am currently trying to add a more challenging second level to this game.

Here is my arcade style game. I need to figure out how the links work between the bad guys. The arcade style games are similar to Super Mario Bros.

Haskell's Retro Arcade game was a similar style to my arcade style game. The game had challenges with bad guys, water, and bad guys in the water. There were also rewards throughout so the gamer would want to keep trying to better their scores. These are fun games that keep kids engaged. I didn't like having to keep stopping at the beginning to read the directions before moving on.

Sploder Physics Game: ShockWave by GriffinTamer
Liked:
  • Challenge
  • Had to gage explosions to get guy to move in the right direction
  • Each level was a bit more challenging and had a different design
Disliked:
  • I couldn't get past level 7
  • Only having one chance when the ball hit the bad guys or the character I was trying to move hit them
  • Needed a longer time limit on the upper levels
Sploder Games from Classmates

I found the physics games to be the most challenging, the arcade style games and the platform games were fun, and the shooter games were hard to control. I need more practice getting used to the keyboard functions.

Platform Game, Pirate by Anne
Liked:
  • Challenge
  • Going through all the platforms
  • Had to beat the big baddie at the end
Disliked:
  • The lava pits
  • It was hard to get past the bad guys when they track you and are waiting for you when you scale the ladder
  • Don't like having to go all the way back to the beginning when you die
Mission Style Games
I didn't like this game at all. I was completely lost. I tried to follow the arrows, but I kept hitting blocks. Then I would try shooting what I thought was the target and couldn't get past the level. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but this just wasn't working for me. Messages kept popping up that I was needed, but I couldn't figure out how to help.

Shooter Style Games
I find these very difficult to play. The controls seem backwards and I always end up losing. I have not figured out a good strategy to be successful. Everything seems very awkward.

Gaming for Love

Check out this infographic comparing online gaming to online dating. It definitely makes a case for online gaming. I have never tried online dating, but I know of a few people who have found successful matches this way. I don't know whether they were gamers or not, but next time someone mentions to me they are going to try online dating, I will recommend they try online gaming instead.
